I believe that every body possesses its own innate wisdom. I encourage students to approach their practice with curiosity, kindness, and breath, fostering an environment where deeper connections with oneself can be explored. My teachings are predicated on the notion that yoga is not just a series of poses but a gateway to understanding our true selves, making space for personal growth and self-reflection.
Beyond traditional yoga practices, I have discovered the significant role that plant medicine can play in supporting expanded consciousness and fostering a deeper connection to Self. I’ve been passionately involved in plant medicine work for over 16 years and working with microdosing specifically for over 5 years.
I advocate for a reverent and respectful relationship with plant medicine, seeing it as a complementary path to yoga for those seeking a profound inner journey.
My intention is clear and unwavering: to support individuals in opening their bodies, hearts, and minds.
Aino
My love-affair with yoga started in the early 2000’s, and I have been teaching since 2008. Soon after beginning to teach, I found myself devoted to this transformative path and began teaching full time. At the same time, I got to learn from some of the best along the way, sitting in classes for 20 years; such an honor to receive the direct shakti transmission from the elders in our lineage. In 2012, my love of travel led me to combine yoga and travel by offering transformative yoga retreats around the globe. My yoga roots are grounded in the teachings of ISHTA lineage, and I have led several 200 hour and 300 hour Teacher Trainings in NYC & in Finland.
Plant medicine work came into my life in 2018, and in 2019 in a ceremony I received a download that informed me that my path was changing. This new path would include Plant medicine ceremony work, and I was shown I would combine it with yoga practices. For the following 5 years I worked with the plants and with my teacher very closely. This guidance became my North Star for the work that I offer today.
I weave a well-balanced asana class inspired by my dance background. Each class is seasoned with pranayama and kriya-techniques, meditation & mudras, also often moments of heartfelt laughter during the class, as we release the need to take everything so seriously.
Forest Path Ceremonies
We offer our signature Ayahuasca ceremonies to serve as a ground for healing, learning, illumination and realization.
We have hosted and guided these rituals for several years and served thousands of glasses of the sacrament to people from all walks of life. With this type of work, it is important for everyone involved to always seek to uphold a high standard of integrity, safety and awareness with regard to the individual and the community at large.
We take care in all areas we see fit and encourage those looking for an experience to look a little deeper as it is not always enough to seek peak experiences or quick fixes. Ours is a humble path of the Forest and of the heart. Our temple is one of deep prayer, communion and contemplation. People who work with us come to study and learn the path or simply to receive the work that is done. We encourage individuals to be well-informed, in good health and equipped with some basic meditation and awareness practices before navigating these spaces with us.
Fly to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City (GUA)
It might be a fun idea to get to Guatemala a day or two early and explore the small city of Antigua. When you land in Guatemala City, hire a private driver to take you to Antigua (about 1hr). We can offer recommendations for hotels and also airbnb’s are great!
Another option is to get to the Lake a day or two before the retreat begins. We can also offer recommendations where to stay there.
*We recommend getting to the lake a day early if possible. It will give you an opportunity to catch up with yourself before we begin our time together.
How to arrive to Casa Floresta from the Guatemala city Airport:
Private car/shuttle or collective shuttle to Panajachel, Lake Atitlan (3.5-4hrs).
Private (15mins) or public boat (35mins) to Casa Floresta dock.
*We will give you a number of a trusted private driver.
Retreat beginning and ending times:
We begin with an Opening Circle on Sunday June 1st at 3pm, and end with Breakfast on June 7th at 10am.
Please plan to arrive at Casa Floresta between 1-2:30pm on the first day.
Weather
Weather in San Marcos La Laguna is usually very mild. Most days the temperature is around 17-24 degrees Celsius, however due to the altitude here at Lake Atitlán (1500m), nights can be as low as 8 degrees. Guatemala has a dry season (November to April) and a wet season (May - October) each year. July and August are often also dry with a break in the rains. Please pack accordingly for stays during the wet season.
*Aino was just there in early June 2024, and it was absolutely gorgeous! Brief tropical rains on couple of days, but mostly absolutely delightful, comfortable weather! Not too hot, not too cold!
